NM welcomes Mizuki
Internationally renowned jewelry designer Mizuki will make her first Hawaii appearance at Neiman Marcus in Designer Jewelry on Level One, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday.
Mizuki was born in Japan, raised in New York and schooled in sculpture at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She started her jewelry line in 1996 with partner Alan Goltz, also a sculptor and SVA graduate.
Mizuki's SoHo Collection features jewelry fashioned from materials such as braided leather, Tahitian pearls and black diamonds. Her bead bracelets (made from wood, onyx, alabaster or turquoise) are adorned with gold-and-diamond charms. Also in the SoHo collection are charms on black silk cords and diamond-cut gold chains.
Mizuki will also be bringing special 18-karat gold pieces from her Couture Collection.
Fall for Roberta Oaks
View fall and holiday looks by Roberta Oaks, Hawaii, beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday at Skyline, taking place in the Hanohano Room, on the 30th floor of the Sheraton Waikiki.
Also featured will be accessories by Fresh Jewelry and hair and makeup by Urban Life. Vouchers for 20 percent off all new styles by Roberta Oaks, Hawaii, will be available the night of the show.
Admission is $15 for the 21-and-older event. Dress code for men is collared shirt and pants. Complimentary valet parking available.
Sedona adds sparkle
Sedona will host a gem and jewelry trunk show from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on Ward Centre's ground level.
The semiannual event will feature Deidre Berg, a stone dealer who has shipped in a variety of unusual gemstones, crystals, minerals, fossils and beads, and one-of-a-kind nomadic knot-work jewelry by Isha.
Interesting specimens include ammonites, nuumit from Greenland, hemimorphites, sugilite from Africa, spiderweb obsidian, Smithsonite, azurite/malachite, blue onyx, rutilated quartz, orange calcite, chrysoprase, Herkimer diamonds, tourmalines, aquamarines, crystals, moonstones and more.
