Graunke comes off bench to give Warriors a spark
No one wanted Tyler Graunke out of the game this time -- except, perhaps, Utah State.

Graunke came off the bench for a groggy Colt Brennan and completed his first nine passes, leading Hawaii to four scores in the second and third quarters. The 16th-ranked Warriors (6-0, 3-0 WAC) took most of the evening to finally subdue Utah State (0-6, 0-2), finally breaking away for a 52-37 rout.
Hawaii won its 10th consecutive conference game and 16th out of its last 17 overall as 33,398 at Aloha Stadium watched in the rain.
Two weeks ago, some of the home crowd chanted "We want Colt" when Graunke played instead of Colt Brennan, as an ankle sprain kept Brennan out of a 66-10 victory over Charleston Southern.
This time Brennan started, but he left the game after a jarring hit from Utah State's Frank Maile and Paul Igboeli in the second quarter.
Brennan came back a series later, but played only the opening series of the second half.
Graunke completed nine of 11 passes with three touchdowns for 246 yards. He also rushed for a score and threw an interception before giving way to third-stringer Inoke Funaki.
The Aggies did their best to stick around after halftime despite traling 31-13 after Brennan completed 19 of 25 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown.
Utah State -- averaging just 15 points per outing coming in -- turned in a game effort, with receiver/kick returner Kevin Robinson scoring twice.
The Warriors weren't playing with their full complement of defensive standouts, as starting right tackle Mike Lafaele and talented cornerback Ryan Mouton were both out with injuries.
