Basketball tickets go on sale

Season tickets for Hawaii men's and women's basketball will go on sale beginning Monday.

Season tickets for men's basketball range from $270 to $59 for the men's team and $70 to $60 for the women's team.

The Rainbow Warriors open their season Nov. 9 against San Diego while the Wahine begin Nov. 16 in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic against Washington.

Tickets can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center box office on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. by calling 944-2697 or online at Hawaiiathletics.com.

HWB BeachBoys pick up Matt Inouye

Matt Inouye, a former University of Hawaii standout, has been added to the Waikiki BeachBoys roster for the remainder of the 2007 Hawaii Winter Baseball season, league officials announced today.

The Mid-Pacific product will fill a roster spot as a catcher. The 5-10, 165-pound Chicago White Sox prospect played 40 games this summer for the Great Falls White Sox--Chicago's Rookie Pioneer League affiliate. He hit .309 with nine doubles, five home runs and 28 RBIs.

The BeachBoys are on Maui getting ready for a three-game set with the West Oahu CaneFires that starts tomorrow night at Iron Maehara Stadium.

Vulcans top Notre Dame de Namur

UH-Hilo powered its way past Notre Dame de Namur, 30-25, 30-23, 28-30, 30-19, in a PacWest women's volleyball match yesterday at Belmont, Calif.

Hillary Hurley hit for .487 and 24 kills, and Lauren Bayer added nine blocks for the Vulcans. UH-Hilo ran its overall record to 12-5 and 4-0 in conference play to take sole possession of first place.

The Argos, who saw their six-game PacWest winning streak snapped, fell to 6-11 (3-1 in conference play).

The two teams meet again today.

» Brigham Young-Hawaii downed Dixie State 30-24, 30-23, 30-24, in a PacWest match yesterday at St. George, Utah.

The Seasiders (8-6 overall, 4-2 PacWest) were led by sophomore outside hitter Agnes Tuilevuka's 14 kills. Junior setter LeeAnn Mapu put away nine kills with no errors in addition to 36 assists.

The Rebels fell to 4-15 overall and 2-3 in PacWest play.

The two teams square off again today.

» HPU prevailed over Grand Canyon University 30-24, 30-25, 28-30, 28-30, 15-10, at Phoenix yesterday.

Antje Buskies put down 24 kills in 58 swings for the Sea Warriors, who improved to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in league play.

The Antelopes fell to 4-12, 1-4 in the PacWest.

The teams play again today.
