Kapalua Villas gears sports and cultural activities especially for keiki

The Kapalua Villas has opened the Kapalua Keiki Club Program, geared toward kids 5 to 15 years old who are guests at the villas, with several options geared toward keeping children entertained while exploring Maui's great outdoors, as well as learning about Hawaiian history, culture and art through educational activities.

Activities require adult accompaniment, allowing parents to spend quality time with their kids while hitting tennis balls or snorkeling in Kapalua Bay.

Each Keiki Club participant will receive a free gift pack from the Kapalua Villas that includes a cooler/carrier, Kapalua Resort baseball hat and a voucher for ice cream from the Honolua Store.

Daily

» Complimentary tennis: Keiki play for free at the Kapalua Tennis Garden when accompanied by a paying adult guest, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 6 p.m. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids also receive complimentary play on the Village Putting Course. Check in at the Kapalua Golf Academy.

» Snorkeling: Get a view underwater at Kapalua Bay. Kapalua Dive Co. offers kids a complimentary snorkel set when accompanied by a paying adult guest. This famous beach fronts the future development of the Residences at Kapalua Bay and includes a beach activities desk offering a wide variety of water sports equipment and activities.

» Nine holes of golf: Keiki can hit nine holes of golf from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the championship Bay Course for free when accompanied by a paying adult guest. Interested guests may check in at the Bay Course Clubhouse.

Wednesdays

» Ocean conservation tour: Learn about the unique marine and shoreline species found at Kapalua Resort through free activities that range from flora and fauna hikes to marine adventure tours offered 8 to 9 a.m. Meet at the Honolua Village Center parking lot. Reserve by calling (808) 669-2221.

» Hawaiian cultural art classes: Learn about Hawaii's rich culture through hands-on arts-and-crafts lessons guided by Silla Kaina, Kapalua Resort's Hawaiian cultural adviser, in the Honolua Village Center Kukui Room. Free from 11 a.m. to noon.

Thursdays

» Kapalua Golf Academy clinics: Juniors 7 and older can hone their golf skills in this high-tech golf training facility, featuring 85,000 square feet of grass teeing area, several practice putting greens, greenside and fairway bunkers, an 18-hole putting course, a minimum of eight target greens and specialty short-game area. A full staff of PGA teaching professionals is available to guide students through casual or intensive instruction from 4 to 5 p.m.
