Sumiko Oshiro and Jowee Bayquen, 9, played the "taisho koto," or Japanese harp, during the Relive the Plantation Days Keiki Festival held Saturday at Hawaii's Plantation Village in Waipahu. Live entertainment, games, demonstrations and ethnic foods were part of the village's 15th-anniversary cultural celebration.

King was twisting and tying the ti leaves for good luck and noted that the Hawaiians use the versatile plant for spiritual and medicinal purposes as well as for dance and cooking.
