» Shane Victorino (St. Anthony) has been limited to pinch-hitting and late-inning defensive work since reinjuring his strained right calf on Aug. 24. He is not expected to return to the Phillies' lineup until at least Friday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News, but he has been making a difference off the bench. On Tuesday, he pinch-ran in the eighth inning with Philadelphia down a run to the NL East-leading Mets. Victorino stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored the tying run. He stayed in the game, led off the 10th with a single and scored on Ryan Howard's walkoff home run for a 4-2 win.
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) made a pair of minor league rehabilitation appearances last week and, with major league rosters expanded yesterday, is expected to be activated by the Blue Jays any day now.
» Brandon Villafuerte (Hilo-born) took another step toward returning to the big leagues, as the Marlins promoted him to Triple-A Albuquerque.
» Shane Komine (Kalani) was dominant in Sacramento's 4-0 win over Colorado Springs, allowing just one hit over seven innings. He struck out nine batters before being relieved in the eighth due to a pitch-count limit. Sixty-nine of Komine's 99 pitches were strikes.
» Keoni Ruth (Kamehameha) took another ride on the Padres' Oregon shuttle returning last Sunday to Triple-A Portland from Class A Eugene just a few days after making a trip in the opposite direction.
» Kila Ka'aihue (Iolani) and Kea Kometani (Punahou) have been designated to play in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.
» Brandon Chaves (Hilo) was activated from the disabled list Thursday.
» The Blue Jays promoted Patrick McGuigan (Mid-Pacific) from Short-season A Auburn to Low A Lansing on Wednesday.
» Kanekoa Texeira (Kamehameha) earned a save Thursday in his first appearance in nearly a month.
» Dusty Bergman (Hawaii) joined the Newark Bears on Friday for their Atlantic League playoff run
