In conjunction with this weekend's 25th Okinawan Festival, Kula Kaiapuni 'O Anuenue School in Palolo hosted a visit by the festival's headlining group from Okinawa, the Rinken Band. Lahapanani Patcho, Keoni Britt-Garrett and Makamae Naone had fun trying to play a "kankara sanshin" they had just made. Behind them are Kaehu Waikiki Fernandez, Laakea Manoi-Hyde, Aliikai Hewlen and Makana Fernandez.

Naoki Enobi, left, of the Rinken Band helped Makamae Tu-Suyat during the student participation part of the dance performance. An Okinawan Festival parade runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. today from Fort DeRussy to Kapiolani Park, with the festival at Kapiolani Park from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. tomorrow, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
