Fab Five, NBA legends at golf classic

The 4th Hawaii Celebrity Golf Classic, featuring "Legends of the NBA" and members of the University of Hawaii's Fabulous Five team, is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Honolulu Country Club.

Among the former NBA players participating are Moses Malone, Lucius Allen, James Worthy, JoJo White, Sam Jones and Ed Ratleff. Fab Five members are new UH head coach Bob Nash, Dwight Holiday, Al Davis, Jerome Freeman and John Penebacker.

Proceeds will benefit the Lokahi Giving Project.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $175 per individual or $700 for a foursome, and includes lunch and awards banquet.

Punahou 1 win from Ruth World Series

Kainoa Crowell keyed a four-run third inning yesterday with an RBI double as Punahou beat South Reno 8-4 in the Babe Ruth Baseball (ages 13-15) Pacific Southwest Regional in Hanford, Calif.

Punahou is 2-0 and advanced to tomorrow's championship game. If it wins, it goes to the Babe Ruth World Series.

Jeremy Ioane and Ryan Yamane each had two hits for Punahou. Marcus Yoshii started and went went eight innings for the win.
