Snorkel, dive and dine on summer Kona cruise
If you're looking for a summer escape, head to the Big Island's Keauhou Bay, where Hula Kai's Summer Snorkel & Sunset Cruise whisks guests to snorkel and scuba sites along a 10-mile secluded stretch of the South Kona coastline, aboard a 55-foot Technicraft power catamaran.
You'll be able to see dolphins, whales, manta rays and an abundance of fish while exploring underwater lava arches, historic lava flows and sea caves. Snorkel gear is included. Scuba gear is also available, with expert guides to assist with instruction.
While you're working up an appetite underwater, the staff will prepare a barbecue meal to be enjoyed at a scenic spot. Bring your camera to capture a brilliant Kona sunset, as well.
The four-hour seasonal cruise departs daily at 3 p.m., returning at sunset, about 7:15 p.m. The cost is $125 per person, with a 40-passenger limit. For reservations, go to www.fair-wind.com.
