Noland moves to KUMU
KUMU-1500 will add a 2-hour afternoon show next month that will be half devoted to sports.
"The John Noland Show" is set to air Monday through Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. and debuts July 17, KUMU general manager John Aeto said.
Local radio and TV veteran Noland, 49, moves his show from K108-1080, where it aired in the morning since last August.
"We're excited John is joining our all-star team," Aeto said. "We look forward to his blend of local talk radio on sports and news."
One hour of Noland's show will go up against KKEA-1420's "Sports Animals," which airs from 3 to 6 p.m. KUMU recently added three morning local sports shows (hosted by Jim and Kanoa Leahey, Bob Hogue and Jai Cunningham, and Jeff Portnoy) which air at the same time as KKEA's "The Bobby Curran Show" from 6 to 9.
Noland spent seven years as executive sports producer at KHON (Ch. 2), where he worked with Les Keiter. That followed a short stint at KITV.
Noland's radio résumé includes work at KGU and KHNR, the latter as sports director. His sports background includes playing basketball at Maryknoll and linebacker for Pac-Five.
"I think I can bring something interesting to the dial," Noland said. "I look forward to it. Radio is a great medium because you can do so many things."
