Mother's Day contest winners picked
Winners in Kunia Shopping Center's Mother's Day Essay Contest on "Why I Love My Mom," include:
First place (youngest to oldest) -- Chanel Diacares, Cassandra Tolentino and Tricia Villamor-AhNee; second place -- Hannah Valdez, Brianne Faasili, and Gretchen Marcelino; third place -- Jennell Garma, Jaydee Valencia and Greg Aquino.
Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center's second annual Valentine Card Contest has named the following winners: First place -- Keilee Simms of Kapunahala Elementary School (under 8 years old); Marielle Lewis of King Intermediate School (8 to 12); and Rebecca Weible of King Intermediate (13 to 18); second place -- Elton Nakai Jr. of Puohala Elementary School; Amber Lewis of Kupaa Learning Center; and Jadelyn Keohohina of King Intermediate; third place -- Danielle Chang of Puohala Elementary School; Jenee Bass of Heeia Elementary School; and Jairah Godoy of King Intermediate.
For the seventh year, a Hawaii Pacific University team, Students in Free Enterprise, won the regional championship and competed in the USA National Exposition competition in Dallas. Hawaii team members were among more than 4,000 students from 250 universities around the country to present their global free enterprise projects.
