Joe Moore, center, was joined by cast members Don Stroud, left, Terence Knapp, David Farmer and George O'Hanlon in front of a World War II B-25 "Mitchell" bomber at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island on June 9. The occasion was the kickoff party for Moore's summer production of "Prophecy & Honor," to star Moore in a revised version of his 1993 play about U.S. Army Air Force Gen. William "Billy" Mitchell. The general was court-martialed in 1925 for refusing to keep quiet about the importance of a strong, modern air force in defending the United States (the B-25 was later named in his honor). "Prophecy & Honor" opens Aug. 16 at Hawaii Theatre. CLICK FOR LARGE

Dianne Vicheinrut and Chris Colgate had plenty to celebrate June 8 as they hosted a pau hana party marking the third anniversary of Hula Grill. The open-air restaurant is only one floor above Duke's, which is owned by the same group, but has established its own identity in the three years since Colgate and his partners opened it. Vicheinrut is the restaurant's new general manager. CLICK FOR LARGE

Hawaii artist Margo Goodwill was congratulated by Greg Frey, left, Kim Taylor Reece and Keanu Bruner on May 31 at the opening reception for her exhibit at Reece's Bethel Street gallery. Frey's pink shirt matched one of Goodwill's major pieces in the show -- "Three Pink Palms." CLICK FOR LARGE

STARS OF THE SHOW:

Jade Stice, left, John "J.B." Bryan and Tricia Marciel had good reason to enjoy the opening-night cast party June 8 for Ron Bright's "5th Anniversary Benefit Celebration" at Paliku Theatre. Stice's searing rendition of "Now That I've Seen Her," Marciel's emotional interpretation of "Somewhere" and Bryan's superb work as the star of two show-stopping numbers -- "Free At Last" and "Poppa's Blues/Birth of the Blues" -- were highlights. Master chef Martin Yan chatted with Leslie Wilcox, left, Hazel Theodore and Jane Kakii on June 9 after taping his "Yan Can Cook" show at the Servco showroom in Mapunapuna. The audience saw Yan cut a slice of red pepper so thin that when he stuck it on the bottle he was holding, the Chinese characters on the label could be read through it. Yan's fans enjoyed three special dishes, and many got his autograph on their "Martin Yan Free & Easy" cookbooks. CLICK FOR LARGE
