2007 Qing Ming Celebration Co-chairmen Harry C.Y. Wong, left, Jeanette M.H. Young and James C.M. Young talked with Danny S.M. Young, vice chairman of the Emeritus Trustees of the United Chinese Society of Hawaii, at the conclusion of the Fifth Annual Hawaii Qing Ming Celebration at the Manoa Chinese Cemetery on April 6. Qing Ming ("clear and bright") was originally associated with Taoist principles of filial piety and honoring one's ancestors but is now embraced by Chinese of all religions. The Hawaii Qing Ming Celebration is sponsored by the United Chinese Society of Hawaii to encourage families to continue the traditional observances and educate younger generations about their significance.
