Though neither school had officially confirmed the deal, a season-opening matchup would be played Sept. 1 at Aloha Stadium.
UH athletic director Herman Frazier declined comment on the game yesterday, and phone calls to Northern Colorado athletic director Jay Hinrichs were not returned.
According to a story in the Greeley (Colo.) Tribune, the Northern Colorado players were told of the game after their practice on Tuesday and another source confirmed the date.
UH currently has 11 games scheduled, with openings for two more.
Northern Colorado, a member of the NCAA Division I-AA Big Sky Conference, went 1-10 last season. The Bears would be the second I-AA team on the 2007 UH schedule, joining Charleston Southern, which visits Aloha Stadium on Sept. 22.
Hawaii coach June Jones put in a call to Mississippi State, which shares an open date with UH, but said yesterday he hadn't heard back from the school.
The game would be played Sept. 1 at Aloha Stadium.
