LAS CRUCES, N.M. » A meeting of Western Athletic Conference athletic directors yesterday morning didn't produce a final version of the league's upcoming football schedule. But commissioner Karl Benson is hopeful a finished version will be completed tonight.

Benson said Hawaii was the only school that hadn't completed its nonconference schedule, and said the league will fill the dates around the holes in the Warriors' schedule.

"We're moving forward," Benson said yesterday. "They've got a couple of dates that they had reserved for nonconference games and we're working around those."

Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier declined comment.

Benson said the athletic directors were presented a tentative schedule to consider yesterday and they'll meet again today.

"We're now tweaking it and expect to provide them another one tomorrow and hopefully that will be the final version," he said.

UH has not announced a possible three of five nonconference games, but yesterday Charleston Southern released its schedule and the I-AA South Carolina school has Hawaii slated for Sept. 22 at Aloha Stadium. UH earlier announced nonconference games at UNLV on Sept. 15 and at home against Washington on Dec. 1.
