"Girls' Day, Boys' Day"

By Minako Ishii

(Bess Press)

$16.95

This unusual hardcover book is actually two books in one. The book is divided in half, with one half devoted to Girl's Day, and the other half devoted to Boy's Day. The clever part about the design is the fact that the front and back covers are upside down from each other so if the reader opens the book and reads the half that is about Girl's Day, they would simply turn the book upside down and flip it over to read about Boy's Day. The text is minimal and brief, while the majority of the pages are full of large color photographs. The overall package is well designed and quite pleasing to the eye. Minako Ishii will be signing copies at the following locations: Don Quijote in Kahaka on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m., Borders in Pearlridge on Feb. 24 at noon, Borders at Ward Center on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., and Borders in Waikele on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
