Kamehameha heads field
The state girls soccer tournament begins Wednesday with Kamehameha and Kapolei as the top seeds
As the only squad with an undefeated record, the Kamehameha Warriors (8-0-2) were awarded the No. 1 seed in the Meadow Gold Dairies/HHSAA Division I Girls Soccer State Championships.
The Warriors, under head coach Michele Nagamine, are looking to win their second consecutive state crown. Jacque Ho and Sanoe Souza led Kamehameha during Interscholastic League of Honolulu play with six goals apiece. The Warriors dominated their opponents, outscoring them 37-4.
Hawaii Prep (11-3) of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, received the top seed in the Division II state tourney.
Both tournaments kick off Wednesday with all games being played at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park's various fields. All opening round matches begin at 3 p.m.
The other seeded teams behind Kamehameha are No. 2 Kapolei (11-2-3) of the Oahu Interscholastic Association, No. 3 King Kekaulike (11-1-2) of the Maui Interscholastic League and No. 4 Konawaena (14-1) of the BIIF.
Division II seeds behind Hawaii Prep are No. 2 Pac-Five (3-5-2) of the ILH, No. 3 Campbell (10-1-2) of the OIA and No. 4 Kapaa (7-2) of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation.
