Kapolei takes care of Kaiser
Liana Gualderama scored the game-winning penalty kick to break a 3-3 tie in the shootout as the Kapolei girls soccer team earned a state tournament berth by knocking off Kaiser 3-2 yesterday in the quarterfinals of the Oahu Interscholastic playoffs at Mililani.
Gualderama and Kirsten Otsuka scored goals for the Hurricanes (9-2-3) while Michelle Takahashi and Amanda Suiso each hammered in goals for Kaiser (7-3-3).
Pearl City 2, Moanalua 0
Katie Scarlett Marquardson and Chloe Maeshiro each scored for the Chargers as they shutout Na Menehune.
Pearl City advances to the semifinals next Wednesday to take on Kalani at Moanalua at 7 p.m.
Kalani 3, Castle 0
Tani Costa, who led the East in goals during the season, scored twice and Erin Arakaki added another goal as the East's top-seeded Falcons shutout the Knights.
Castle will face Moanalua in the consolation bracket Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Aiea.
Mililani 3, Kalaheo 0
Chelsey Goo, Natalie Wong, and Stephanie Yoro all scored for the Trojans, who have won four of the last five OIA championships.
