Pires scores 18 to help No. 4 Kalaheo hold off No. 5 Kaimuki
Cliffton Pires led three Mustangs in double figures with 18 points as No. 4 Kalaheo pulled away late to defeat fifth-ranked Kaimuki 69-61 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association basketball game last night at the Kaimuki gym.
Cheynne Lishman nailed four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and Tyler Caswell added eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as Kalaheo outscored the Bulldogs 24-20 in the period to win its sixth straight game.
Beau Albrechtson scored 19 points and Keone Reyes added 15 for the Bulldogs, who lost their third game in a row.
Defending OIA champion Kaimuki remained in fourth place.
