COURTESY RAVENCHASE ADVENTURES
After an event similar to the treasure hunt planned for New Year's Eve, Jill Stokes, left, Rodney Weaver and Tom Baker -- Team Aloha -- celebrated their second-place finish in the "Great Honolulu Hunt" Dec. 9 at Bikini Cantina in Aloha Tower. The silver frog was their "fabulously tacky" trophy.

It's 'Time' to resolve to join treasure hunt
Ring in the new year with a different sort of adventure -- a treasure hunt, "The Quest for Father Time."
Treasure maps and actors bearing codes, ciphers and other clues will lead teams through the downtown area. The aim: to solve riddles that will lead them to a final secret location for a champagne toast and view of the fireworks.
The Richmond, Va.-based Ravenchase Adventures, which opened a Honolulu branch this year, hosts the hunt.
The New Year's chase begins at 8 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $90, $50 for kamaaina.

If can, bring cans, says Jamba Juice
Keep that food coming: The Hawaii Foodbank and Jamba Juice have extended their holiday collection to Jan. 5.
Bring five cans of fruits or vegetables (12 ounces or larger) to any Jamba Juice location except the University of Hawaii campus and receive a coupon for a free original-size smoothie.
The goal is to collect at least 40,000 pounds of canned goods to stock the food bank through March.
Cans that are extremely dented or rusted, are under 12 ounces or have no label will not be accepted. Small tomato sauce and tomato paste cans do not qualify.
Piano professors plan classes, talks, concert

The free master classes take place from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16, at Orvis Auditorium, for UH students; and 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 17, at the Mozart House piano showroom in Iwilei, for high school students.
A workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 18 at Punahou School, and a perspective on contemporary composers is set for 7:30 p.m. at Orvis Auditorium. Admission for either is $15, $10 for HPTA members.
Shannon and Song will perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Orvis Auditorium. Tickets are $15, $10 students, seniors and HPTA members.
