A surfer dropped in on a gnarly inside wave at the Kewalo's surf spot yesterday as out-of-season large swells arrived on Oahu's south shores. In the last three decades, there have only been three off-season south swells of this size. The National Weather Service has posted a high surf advisory for south-facing shores on all islands through 6 p.m. tomorrow. Surf is expected to be in the 5- to 8-foot range, with the waves reaching their peak late today. The rare south swell was produced by a low-pressure system off New Zealand. Also, a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island was expected to be lifted later today. CLICK FOR LARGE
