FOX's Simpson show about murders is sick
Is there any sicker display of human despair than the FOX channel televising a "re-enactment" of O.J. Simpson showing viewers how he would have killed his ex-wife and her friend if he actually did do it? What person doesn't think he did it, anyway? Maybe the Amish would give him a pass.
What's next? John Hinckley telling us of his feelings for President Reagan and Mark Chapman's of John Lennon.
FOX, "fair and balanced," should get a life and Americans should read a book for a change of pace.

Hanabusa will be strong Senate leader
I am pleased and honored to join the many supporters of
Sen. Colleen Hanabusa in congratulating her on being elected Senate president.
As a proud resident-constituent of the 21st Senate District and former candidate in the 2006 Second Congressional District race -- who publicly endorsed Hanabusa's candidacy for Congress -- I stand tall knowing that the visibility of the 21st Senate District will be heightened; concerns of Hawaii's working class will be favorably addressed; and Democrats, and all women, will be enriched by the leadership of a strong, independent, highly intellectual woman.
I am anxiously looking forward to following the first female Senate president in her tenure and career in public service. I am committed, as a young Democrat, to wholeheartedly supporting her future endeavors.
Holomua Hanabusa!

Should Watada blindly follow bad orders?
For the people who continue to say that Ehren Watada "swore to defend the U.S. Constitution, "that he took the officer's oath to obey his superior" and further, that a soldier's duty is to obey, not question, do you want our soldiers to do what the ancient Light Brigade did?
"Forward the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismayed?
Not though the soldiers knew
Someone had blundered.
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the Valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
-- Alfred Lord Tennyson
Is this our Army today? Senseless as dumb oxen? Even though they knew? Are these our sons and daughters?
The officer's oath includes: "I ... do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies." Those who have charged Watada with not honoring this oath, please come to an event where this will be discussed openly with his father, Bob Watada, his attorney and a University of Hawaii professor of constitutional law, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the UH Campus Architecture Auditorium.

Why mourn soldiers but not fetuses?
It's clear that the majority of voters wanted change. What's odd is who they elected to bring change to fruition. The people elected a party appalled by the nearly 3,000 soldiers killed in Iraq fighting the "war on terror" but applaud the 4,000 aborted babes killed each and every day in our so very civilized nation. Are we appalled?
In our spirit we feel the pain and anguish of the families who have lost loved ones while protecting our country. We hurt and mourn with you. Likewise, in our innermost spirit we can hear and feel the soft, yet powerful whimpers of these fragile little ones clinging to life with all of their tiny might. We hurt and mourn with you also.

Just barbecue smoke? Could be a lot worse
This is in response to Lois Raynor's
Nov. 14 letter, "Barbecued chicken causes pollution, too." How do you compare carbon dioxide from vehicles to our beloved Huli Huli chicken that is cooked at not just Jefferson but other schools and areas all around this beautiful state?
What next? Are you going to try to stop us from passing gas, too? Get real, girlfriend -- go to the Army surplus store and buy one gas mask to protect your lungs from our "polluting" Huli Huli chicken. Geez!
