Dung leads Raiders past Monarchs and into states

Quarterback Ryan Dung ran in a 13-yard option keeper to cap the scoring and lead Iolani to a 33-19 win over Damien last night at Kaiser, giving the Raiders the Interscholastic League of Honolulu's Division II championship.

The Raiders move on to play Kaimuki in the first round of the state Division II championship on Friday at Radford High School.

Dung had three rushing touchdowns and had 241 all-purpose yards, and Mike Hirokawa rushed for 113 yards and a score for the Raiders. Kama Bailey had two touchdowns and 142 yards in a losing effort for the Monarchs.

Iolani improved to 6-5-1, 3-4-1 in the ILH. Damien dropped to 3-9-1, 2-5-1 in the ILH.

The teams tied in their first meeting this season, 34-all on Sept. 10. Damien beat Iolani 14-10 a month later.
