"The John Noland Show" debuts today on K108 radio, 1080 AM. Noland has more than 20 years' broadcast experience in Hawaii, primarily in sports, but says his new show will also cover political, business and entertainment topics. The show will air from 8 to 10 a.m. weekdays.

COMING UP

We think we can, we think we can

The "Little Engine That Could," with its mantra, "I think I can, I think I can," sets the tone for Thursday's nationwide endeavor to set a record for the largest shared reading experience ever.

Adults are needed to read the book to children. Register online at www.readfortherecord.org.

The national literacy program Jumpstart and Starbucks Coffee shops are sponsoring the world-record attempt. For an updated list of reading locations and times, visit www.starbuckshawaii.com.

They include the Children's Discovery Center; public libraries in Kaneohe, Kapolei and Pearl City; and Starbucks in Mililani Shopping Center and Moanalua Shopping Center. Starting times vary.
