Ever since First Friday got started, it's been good fun for folks to fit some culture into their weekends. In fact, the downtown event has been drawing crowds eager to see the latest art shows, hear good music and check out eateries.

This month, The ARTS at Marks Garage is exhibiting works from this year's Raku Ho'olaulea, held at Waimanalo Beach Park. The weekend event featured workshops and outdoor kilns firing the ceramic pieces of 125 professional artists, students and hobbyists.

"Raku Ho'olaulea 2006 Juried Exhibition" features the best works from the event -- 90 pieces by 50 artists. Jurors were Ernest Aryee, Carl Fieber and Ken Kang.

The exhibit runs through July 29 at The ARTS at Marks Garage, 1159 Nuuanu Ave. Call 521-2903.

First Friday runs 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Get a map of the area from these participating venues.
