Gelatin party shots are making a comeback
Remember gelatin party shots? They're making a comeback in a new recipe book, "Hawaii's Tropical Drinks and Gelatin Party Shots" (Mutual Publishing, hardcover, $13.95).
The shot recipes are just part of the text, which Oahu resident and author Mark Sullivan also filled with frozen drinks, tropical cocktails, shooters and ice cream/dessert drinks. He perfected his recipes while tending bar at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows and Indigo.
Names like "Green Geisha," "Sick Little Monkey," "Mountain Doo Kine," "Brainless," "Biohazard," "Don't Beam Me Up Scotty" and "Sex on the Beach" might inspire you to invest in funky glassware, a few of which are modeled in the book. Novices will appreciate the handy instructions for concocting gelatin shots, and veterans might find a new idea for a party.
Colorful and graphically intriguing, the book is conveniently presented in a spiral binder that allows it to open flat, so you won't lose your page on your fourth drink.
