Lambert-Metzger take bronze in Croatia

Punahou alumni Mike Lambert and Stein Metzger teamed to win the bronze medal Sunday at the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour beach volleyball tournament in Zagreb, Croatia.

The pair, seeded 19th, defeated Brazil's Roberto Lopes-Pedro Salgado 21-13, 16-21, 15-7 in 84 minutes and will share $16,000. Lopes-Salgado eliminated Sean Scott, another Punahou product, and partner Dax Holdren 21-15, 21-19 in the quarterfinals.

Lacrosse camp set for Central Oahu park

The Hawaii Boys and Girls Lacrosse Camp is scheduled for next Monday through Friday at the Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio.

The camp is open to athletes ages 10-17 and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. The cost is $100.

Arrangements can be made for those without equipment, according to organizers. For more information, call John Keogh at 348-5841.

Kalaheo's Hicks signs with UNC Charlotte

Kalaheo High graduate Kat Hicks, a 6-foot-middle blocker, has signed to play volleyball at UNC Charlotte this fall.

Hicks was an All-Oahu Interscholastic Association selection in both volleyball and basketball for the Mustangs.

She also played club volleyball for Jammers, which finished third in the 17s division at the recent Las Vegas Invitational.
