Emma Stowe, 8, from Troop 121, was one of more than 100 Girl Scout volunteers who decorated graves at the Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery in Kaneohe yesterday afternoon. The troops placed about 6,000 flags and leis over grave sites as part of the 16th Annual Memorial Day Service Project.

Heather Nakamoto was illuminated yesterday evening during the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day Eve Candlelight Ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The ceremony featured retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Jesse Baker, who served his country for 29 years and is currently the senior leader of the Vietnam Veterans/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club. The keynote speaker was Lt. Gen. John Goodman, who began his military career in the U.S. Army in 1967. Veterans and hundreds of motorcycle club members attended the vigil.
