ResortQuest will take over Kauai resort’s management
It will be renamed ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa
Just one year ago, the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach was finishing a $30 million renovation and heading toward the auction block. Now the project is on the verge of being sold and taken over by a new management firm -- which plans to do yet another renovation.
Kelvin Bloom, president of ResortQuest Hawaii, could not say how much the new renovation would cost. But he said yesterday that ResortQuest, which has been selected as the property's new manager, has determined that there are "opportunities for further renovation."
ResortQuest would like to spruce up some of the areas most frequented by guests, including rooms and common areas, he said.
The hotel's owner, Presidio Hotel Group, has said it plans to close on a sale of the hotel next month. But Presidio has not disclosed the buyer or price, and Bloom declined to identify the buyer.
Bloom said the 311-room beachfront resort will be renamed ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa. The handover is slated for the middle of next month.
ResortQuest manages 28 properties in Hawaii, with more than 5,000 rooms on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. The project is ResortQuest's fifth on Kauai, where it will manage nearly 1,000 rooms once it raises its flag over the new property.
