Family members and close friends of Samuel Kauaawa Mokuahi Jr. paddled his ashes Saturday out to Maunalua Bay, "the place that nurtured his soul," said the Rev. Billy Mitchell. Mokuahi, known as Sammy Steamboat, was a renowned wrestler, paddler, businessman and educator, beloved by his family, friends and peers. He died May 2 of complications from Alzheimer's. "His quiet, giving, Hawaiian heart was always given with greatest humility," said Mitchell.
