» Kea Kometani (Punahou, Pepperdine) won his second game of the season Friday night, pitching six innings for the Bakersfield Blaze in a 13-6 California League win over the Modesto Nuts. Two of the eight hits Kometani surrendered were doubles to Nuts first baseman Duke Sardinha (Kamehameha, Pepperdine).
» Tyler Yates (Kauai, Hawaii-Hilo) was signed by the Atlanta Braves on May 3. He has been assigned to the Richmond (Va.) Braves in the Class AAA International League. Yates, who missed the 2005 season after shoulder surgery, had signed a free-agent contract with Baltimore in the offseason, but was released by the Orioles on April 28.
» Chad Bailey (Campbell, North Idaho, Seminole State) has been assigned to the Asheville Tourists of the Class A South Atlantic League. The left-hander had been in extended spring training after signing with the Colorado Rockies.
» Alika Kuraoka (Kamehameha, Hawaii Pacific) agreed to terms Thursday with the Rockford (Ill.) Riverhawks of the independent Frontier League. The first baseman finished his collegiate career with the Sea Warriors in 2005.
