Our Picks for the Weekend

This weekend my friends and I pay homage to actor Cillian Murphy with our own at-home film fest with scenes from "28 Days Later" in appreciation of his work as a man, and the main feature, "Breakfast on Pluto," a much overlooked film that played only two weeks here.

In "Breakfast," which has nothing to do with food, the brilliant Murphy outwomans any woman by playing a transvestite in search of his mommy in 1970s Ireland/England, the time of Troubles involving the Irish-Catholics, Protestants and English army.

In honor of Murphy's character Patrick "Kitten" Braden in the ultimate optimist's film, we will don feather boas, nibble on chocolates and crudités, and sip Campari and soda, causing one of the party girls to whine, "Is that all?"

What can I say? Girly parties here are like no place else, so the table will have to have poke from Tanioka's, mochiko chicken from R&P's and hot wings from Dirty Lickins'. So much for Kittenish delicacy.
