UH's Gauthier ties for third in pole vault
The University of Hawaii's Patricia Gauthier finished in a tie for third in the pole vault at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., yesterday.
Gauthier vaulted 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches. UH's Taira Krismunando placed ninth.
In the discus, Hawaii's Nicole Awaa finished in 13th with a throw of 137-7 and Meghan Weaver took 18th with a heave of 136-2.
In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Chantelle Laan placed 28th with a time of 4 minutes, 42 seconds.
Seasiders finish regular season 22-0
Brigham Young-Hawaii defeated Chaminade 9-0 in women's tennis yesterday in Laie to finish its regular season 22-0.
Ramona Husaru, Allie Taylor and Natalie Rogers all won singles and doubles matches for the Seasiders.
» The Seasiders beat the Silverswords in men's tennis 5-0 yesterday in Laie to improve to 14-3.
Marvin So'onalole, Carlton Taylor, Ryan Bell and Junichi Shimoda took doubles and singles victories for BYUH.
Hawaii beats Loyola Marymount in water polo
Iefke Van Belkum scored with 1:43 left in the fourth quarter to give Hawaii a 6-5 victory over Loyola Marymount yesterday in Los Angeles.
Van Belkum and Kelly Mason had two goals each for the Rainbow Wahine.
Irons brothers capture third-round heats
Hawaii surfers Andy Irons, his brother Bruce Irons and Pancho Sullivan won their third-round heats and advanced to the fourth round of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Australia, today.
Hawaii's Kekoa Bacalso and Fred Patacchia Jr. also surfed yesterday, but were eliminated in their third-round heats. Roy Powers, also of Hawaii, lost in the second round.
