Reggae's Levy hits Pipeline

FRESH off his induction into the newly-created Reggae Walk of Fame, the legendary Barrington Levy returns to Honolulu for a performance tonight at Pipeline Cafe.

Levy appeared in his homeland of Jamaica last weekend for the ceremony, which also honored reggae superstars Charlie Chaplain, Culture, Tony Rebel, Cynthia Schloss, Third World and Yellowman. Here in the islands, he'll perform with the Detour Posse alongside local acts Humble Soul and T.H.C., with selectors from Pacific Sounds Outernational on the decks.

Tickets are $30 at the door for this 18-and-over concert, presented by Good Vibez Entertainment. Call 926-3000 ...

WANT A FEW more options for tonight? Keep Spring Break raging with "The Breaks" at Koi, or check out the monthly "Livewire" party over at Venus Nightclub ...

REGGAE IS also the theme at Aloha Tower Marketplace tomorrow, when Kawao headlines the first "Spring Jam Series Concert" at Don Ho's Island Grill.

Doors open at 9:30 p.m. for the 21-and-over crowd, with an $8 cover charge in effect. Kimo Opiana, TC, Max Effects and Rude Boy will get things started, with the Rebel Souljahz taking the stage before Kawao closes out the night. Call 296-1003 ...

Kincaid's should be a great venue to see these two play -- the lounge area at the restaurant is comfortable, and the restaurant serves up some ono pupus to go with the cocktails ...

MIXED MARTIAL arts fans are in for another night of action on Saturday, when "Punishment in Paradise" returns to Sea Life Park.

Among the fighters scheduled to throw down: Ronald Jhun, Kaleo Kwan, Bryson Kamaka, Ikaika Choy Fu and Kolo Koka. In all, there are supposed to be 20 bouts on the card this weekend.

Tickets for "Punishment in Paradise: Stand and Bang" are $25 in advance, $35 at the gate. Check out www.piphawaii.com for more info ...

THE WAVE Waikiki presents a pair of new parties this weekend -- "RIOT!" migrates from its home at Hula's on Thursdays for a monthly first Saturday residency, while DJ Meilo brings "Fierce Beats" back to Clubland on Sundays ...
