Julia White viewed the "Life in the Pacific of the 1700s" exhibit last night during the opening reception at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. The exhibit, which presents several hundred objects collected by Capt. James Cook, runs through May 14.

Staff Sgt. Benjamin Dillon, a Marine Forces Pacific career retention specialist based at Camp Smith, received an autograph Tuesday from actor R. Lee Ermey following a Marine re-enlistment ceremony at the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Ermey, known for his role in the 1987 film "Full Metal Jacket," was taping an episode of the History Channel show "Mail Call" and took time between shots to serve as an honorary participant in the ceremony for six Marines.
