Rainbows sweep WAC baseball honors
Hawaii outfielder Robbie Wilder and right-hander Steven Wright are the Western Athletic Conference's hitter and pitcher of the week.
Wilder, a senior from Anderson, Calif., went 10-for-17 at the plate for a .588 batting average in the Rainbows' four victories last week. He also drew four walks, was hit by a pitch twice, stole two bases and scored 11 runs.
Wright, a junior from Moreno Valley, Calif., pitched a complete-game one-hitter in a 3-1 win over Loyola Marymount last Friday. He did not walk a batter and struck out 10.
Warriors move up to No. 4 in volleyball poll
The Hawaii volleyball team's two-match sweep of Long Beach State last week resulted in a jump in the CSTV/AVCA Division I-II Coaches Top 15 poll released yesterday.
The Warriors (7-4, 5-3 MPSF) switched places with LBSU, moving up to No. 4, and the 49ers dropped to sixth. Brigham Young got all 16 first-place votes to maintain the top spot. UC Irvine is second and Pepperdine third.
