Catch Wave's punk rock and lingerie

IT'S A match made in hell: punk rock and lingerie models.

Tonight, the Wave Waikiki hosts the third annual "Pretty 'N Punk," with doors opening at 9 p.m. and the mayhem starting around 11 p.m. Along with performances by Extra Stout and The Enhancements, there will also be a fashion show featuring unmentionables from Lingerie Heaven.

Show up early enough and you'll have a chance to score free underwear (hey, it'll make a great belated Valentine's Day present!) and gift certificates for free tattoos. Cover is $10 for this 18-and-over party, $5 if you're 21. Call 398-7443 ...

CAN'T MAKE it to the Wave tonight? Consider stopping for the "Dead Presidents Party" on Sunday instead.

Monday's a holiday, so you have an excuse to stay out late and enjoy rock offerings from The Crud, Black Square, Linus the Band, Missing Dave and MVA. I'll also be there to help with hosting duties.

Cover is $7 for "Dead Presidents," and, sorry kids, this one is for the 21-and-over crowd. Call 723-4277 for more info ...

HIP-HOP fans have a new destination on Friday nights.

Hot on the heels of Architechs Hawaii and Kaizo Speedgear's new "Cheddar" weekly at the Living Room, downtown bar Detox debuts "Beat Down" tomorrow at 10 p.m. It'll be open to those 18 and over, with $4 Grey Goose and $3.50 Newcastle specials if you're old enough to drink.

Interestingly, some of the same names that used to hang at "The Next Level" have migrated to Detox. Ion Myke will host, with DJs Packo, Revise, Dani 1 and Fame on the decks ...

STAND-UP comedy continues to thrive in Honolulu, with two more shows planned for this weekend. Saturday's "Comedy Slam 3" at the Hawaiian Hut will feature Bernadette Balagtas, Ophira Eisenberg, Kaleo Pilanca and Mo Dixon. Hot 93.9's Junior Kekuewa Jr. will also be there to host the fun and serenade folks with his trusty guitar.

On Sunday, Pilanca will host his monthly "Stir Fry Comedy Show" at Jackie's Kitchen. Call 372-3210 for details on these shows ...

SATURDAYS continue to be a mixed plate at Pipeline Cafe. Katch-Ah-Vibe and Natural Vibrations headline an 18-and-over concert this week, starting at 10 p.m. The club flips to a house tip with DJ Paul Brandon at "Uncensored" on Sunday ...

LOCAL BAND Go Jimmy Go is back after participating in this year's "Ska Brawl Tour" on the mainland, which means we'll see a lot more of Fernando Pacheco with his other group, Pimpbot. Welcome him home on Saturday, when Pimpbot shares a stage with Missing Dave and The Crud at Red Lion University ...
