Local pros to instruct at Kailua Baseball Clinic

Corey's 2nd Annual Kailua Baseball Clinic is set for Jan. 28-29 at the Kailua High School Baseball Field.

The two one-day clinics for players ages 7-14 will feature instruction by such local standouts as Corey Ishigo, Rodney Choy Foo, Shane Komine, Brandon League, Dane, Duke and Bully Sardinha, Keone DeRenne, Paul Ah Yat, Kila Kaaihue, Isaac Omura, Mark Okano, Shay Hirota, Bryce Uegawachi and Kyle Kawabata.

Cost is $60, which includes a T-shirt and lunch.

Hawaii fighters ranked by USA Boxing

Several local fighters appear in USA Boxing's fourth-quarter national rankings, including Gina Ramos at No. 1 at women's 95 pounds.

Ikaika Villanueva is No. 2 at 90 pounds in the Junior Olympic rankings. Also in Junior Olympics, Thomas Juan is No. 8 at 95, Keola McKee No. 10 at 101, Bruno Escalante No. 8 at 110, Kurtis Kala No. 10 at 145 and Tupo Kulihaapai is ranked No. 4 at 189 pounds.

In men's rankings, Samson Guillermo is No. 9 in the featherweight division, Van Oscar Penovaroff is 10th at light welterweight and Christopher Downs is No. 2 at light heavyweight.

Colleen Loo is No. 3 at women's 101 pounds. Jenna-Lyn Oda is No. 9 at 154 and Anne Gibbon is No. 3 at 189.

These stand as the final rankings for 2005 and will be used as seedings for the U.S. Championships in March.
