Peciukas named PacWest POW
Hawaii Pacific forward Audrius Peciukas was named the PacWest Player of the Week yesterday.
Pecuikas led the Sea Warriors to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 20 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, including a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in a win against Morningside College.
Iolani alumnus Low breaks foot
Washington State sophomore guard Derrick Low broke his right foot in practice Tuesday and will not play Saturday against Washington.
The three-time Star-Bulletin Mr. Basketball from Iolani broke a bone in the same foot in 2004, and missed the first five games of his freshman season.
Low was the only Cougar to start every game this year. He is averaging 10.5 points per game, the only WSU player in double figures.
He is third in 3-point field goal percentage (47.7), seventh in 3-pointers made (1.91 per game), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.56) and minutes played (33.18 per game), and ninth in assists (3.82 per game) in the Pacific-10 Conference.
Hawaiian Island Twisters host meet
Joe Rapp's Hawaiian Island Twisters will be holding a gymnastics meet this weekend at the Aiea District Park gym.
Teams based in Australia, California, Washington, Texas and Minnesota will be participating in the event. The meet kicks off Friday at 5:30 p.m. and closes Sunday at 12:30. Level 10 gymnasts will compete beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
