Movies opening this Friday:
"Bloodrayne": Based on the popular video game, a woman searches for her vampire father, Kagan, before he gains the power to take over the human world. On her journey, she is befriended by two vampire hunters. Kristanna Loken, Michael Madsen and "Lost's" Michelle Rodriguez star. (R)
"Brokeback Mountain": Premiered at the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival and getting major Oscar buzz around the country. It's the epic love story between a ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy. Directed by Ang Lee and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway. (R)
"The Gathering": Filmed about three years ago and just hitting U.S. theaters now, it's the story of an American backpacker (Christina Ricci) in a small English town, who loses her memory after a car accident and begins having visions that could be linked to the nearby unearthing of an ancient church. (not yet rated at press time)
"Grandma's Boy": From Adam Sandler's production company comes this comedy about a 36-year-old slacker and video game tester who moves in with his grandmother and her two elderly roommates. He tells his friends, however, that he's living with "hot babes." (R)
"Hostel": Quentin Tarantino presents this harrowing movie about two American buddies in Europe who, while looking for fun at a remote hostel in a Slovakian town, instead find themselves in a bizarre chamber of horrors. Eli Roth of "Cabin Fever" notoriety directs. (R)
