BIG WAVES HIT THE NORTH SHORE
Surfers revel in faces that reach 25 feet,
but conditions turn dangerous

At least five people were rescued yesterday as waves with up to 25-foot faces crashed on Oahu's North Shore. Above, surfers took off on a wave at Waimea Bay. Organizers of the Eddie Aikau surf tournament decided to wait for bigger waves. The waves were on their way down last night, but another swell is expected by the end of the week.
