NextDoor gets bigtime sound rig
IF THE variety of quality entertainment at
NextDoor isn't enough to make you visit Chinatown, maybe a new sound system is.
One of the manini gripes I've heard about the place is that music didn't sound that great due to the mobile system that's set up there. But that's been taken care of, now that the venue had a $70,000 upgrade installed this week.
According to DJ Ira, one of the weekly resident DJs there, the Turbosound system is used in some of the biggest nightclubs around the world. This weekend, Marques Wyatt and Zion-I will get to break it in at NextDoor. Now if they could only do something about the air conditioning ...

Vox has toured endlessly on the mainland for the past few years after graduating from the Berklee College of Music. She's got four albums under her belt already, but it's an upcoming release that will draw attention here.
"Victoria Vox's Jumping Flea" is set to hit stores next year, but Vox is in town this month to spread the word. Just a year after picking up the instrument, she's already recorded 10 tracks (including a rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow").
