Girl Scout Troop 808 helps dish out the fun with ‘Christmas in Papakolea’

Bouncers provided a fun outlet for energetic kids Saturday at the "Christmas in Papakolea" event at the Papakolea Community Center. The event featured live music, free food, arts and crafts, an inflatable bouncer and a visit by Mayor Mufi Hannemann as Santa Claus to hand out more than 300 gifts to the children of the Hawaiian homestead.

Liane Leong, left, Tate Kaneshige, Chelsey Moriyama and Alyson Wee were the four 15-year-old girls who threw the "Christmas in Papakolea" event on Saturday. The girls planned the Christmas community extravaganza since March as part of their efforts in obtaining the coveted Gold Award as members of Girl Scout Troop 808.
