Let the music move you
Since moving to Honolulu in 2001 to work for the Star-Bulletin, I've been documenting the live shows of local bands. It started when I worked with promoter Kristien Amer shooting CKY at Wo Fat. I met the Hellbound Hounds there, and they invited me to shoot their other shows. After that, other bands began inviting me as well.
There's nothing quite like a live rock show. Anything can happen and often does. I've been hit by beer bottles, crushed in mosh pits and soaked in alcohol (you could call that a fringe benefit of sorts). But the best part has been the friends that I've made, and all the music I've been able to listen to up close and loud.
I've also been shooting promotional photos for bands and some album covers, inlcuding Go Jimmy Go's latest CD, "The Girl with the Fishbowl Eyes," and Pimpbot's CD single of "Careless Whisper."
Be sure to check out the live rock scene in Honolulu. A lot of great bands out there deserve to be heard and seen.
