There has been little suspense for the Hawaii volleyball team the past two weeks. Other than the question of whether the Rainbow Wahine would finish the Western Athletic Conference season undefeated for the seventh straight year, Hawaii has known that it was the top seed for next week's WAC tournament in Reno, Nev., since Nov. 9.

The Wahine (22-6, 16-0) also knew they'd face the winner of Thursday's play-in game between Louisiana Tech and Boise State later on Thanksgiving Day at the Lawlor Events Center.

The rest of the league didn't have the luxury, with Nos. 2-5 seeds not determined until last night's final night of play. WAC newcomer Utah State earned the tournament's second seed with a sweep of Nevada last night in Logan, Utah.

The Aggies (19-11, 11-5) finished tied for second with New Mexico State (19-6, 11-5) but had the tiebreaker over NMSU. The two teams split their series, but Utah State won 3-0, while NMSU won 3-1.

Utah State faces seventh-seeded Fresno State (7-20, 4-12) in one of the quarterfinals. New Mexico State draws San Jose State (12-16, 7-9), which lost in five at Idaho last night.

The Vandals (16-13, 8-8) came back from an 0-2 deficit against the Spartans to claim the fifth seed and a matchup with Nevada (17-11, 10-6).
