A 29-year-old Kalihi man was charged yesterday in the stabbing on Wednesday night of a 26-year-old Waimanalo man at Kaimuki District Park.

Noel Dalisay Jr. was charged yesterday with second-degree attempted murder for allegedly stabbing Robert Viela.

Police said Viela was trying to break up a fight about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday between several males in different parties on the basketball courts at the park, 3521 Waialae Ave.

Dalisay "then began challenging Viela to a fight," police Detective Chris Lee said in a court document.

Dalisay stabbed Viela with a 6-inch knife in the upper right arm, then in the abdomen, Lee said.

Dalisay then fled in his vehicle.

Viela was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and went into emergency surgery.

Witnesses at the park described the knife Dalisay used and said he frequented the park.

The witnesses also positively identified Dalisay by photograph as the suspect who stabbed Viela twice, noting his hair was bleached.
