At the East-West Center Friendship Circle at the University of Hawaii on Saturday, students from 49 countries shared their spirit in a program of cultural music and dance to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. "Operation Ohana: Oceans Apart, United by Heart" featured family activities, lei-making, a silent auction and food. Iing Mulyadi from Indonesia wore a haku lei at the event.

UH students belonging to the Indonesian Student Association performed a medley of Indonesian folk songs. After their performance, a letter was read from two children from Aceh, Indonesia -- affected by last year's tsunami -- about their understanding and caring about the effects of Katrina on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
