Samuel Jackson
to attend HIFF

Oscar nominee Samuel L. Jackson will attend the 25th annual Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival next month to receive the organization's "International Achievement in Acting Award" at the Oct. 28 awards ceremony at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Jackson has made more than 80 films with combined worldwide grosses of almost $4 billion, including the "Star Wars" trilogy, "Pulp Fiction," "Jurassic Park," "Coach Carter" and the upcoming "FreedomLand," opening in December. Jackson finalized the appearance at HIFF last month when he was here filming "Snakes on a Plane" ...

Hana hou! Archie Ahuna is one of nine "Lost" crew members who won an Emmy for "Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series." The award was announced Sunday in Los Angeles.

The N cable network series "Boarding School" began filming yesterday at the former Henry Damon home near Maile Point. The series' actors had surfing lessons at Makaha Beach from stunt coordinator Brian Keaulana, also a producer.
