Victims of the 9/11 terror attacks
are remembered at events on Oahu

A stainless steel memorial honoring the victims of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and their families was unveiled yesterday at Honolulu Community College. At the ceremony, Former HCC and UH student Christine Snyder, who died in the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, was honored at the ceremony. Above, Christine's mother, Jan Snyder, placed a flower in front of the memorial. The memorial was built by HCC sheet metal and plastics instructor Danny Aiu.

Also yesterday, a ceremony was held at Schofield Barracks to honor those who died in the 9/11 attacks. Spc. Crystal Jones bowed her head in prayer. Also honored were those who died during search and rescue operations as well as all military personnel injured or killed during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lillian Causey, 71, received a manicure from Justine Faagata yesterday at Seagull Schools in Kapolei. Students from Hollywood Beauty College volunteered their beautician skills at the senior day care facility by offering free manicures and haircuts. "After receiving the beauty treatments, it has a real positive effect on their attitudes," said Chuck Larson, executive director of Seagull Schools.
