The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. hit a five-week high to headline this week's Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The owner of the state's largest utility and American Savings Bank rose 3.6 percent to $27.50 to finish with the second-best performance.
Penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. gained 3.7 percent to 2.8 cents from 2.7 cents.
Fuel-cell technology company Hoku Scientific Inc. trailed the field as it fell 4.5 percent to $6.20.
